Annual Athlete Grants
Each year, the Alberta government, through the Alberta Federation of Shooting Sports (AFSS) makes grants available to help athletes compete. In keeping with historical policy, the Alberta Handgun Association attempts to distribute the available funds to as many participating member athletes as possible. The availability and amount of these grants vary from year to year.
Generally, two (2) grants are available to member athletes: Alberta High Performance and Alberta Athlete Development. Athletes are eligible for only one of the grants within a year.
All shooting sport related expenses will be considered, such as equipment, ammunition, match fees, accommodation, meals, travel paid for within the province. (Alberta grants are to cover expenses within the province)
Original receipts must accompany grant application. (Remember to keep your receipts throughout the year!)
All travel within the province may be claimed. Personal vehicle travel may be claimed at $0.50/km for distances greater than 50km. (2018 rate: Subject to change)
Proof of Alberta residency is required. (Alberta Health Care number)
Deadline: Completed applications with original receipts must be postmarked no later than November 15th.
Applications will be accepted in person at the Memorial Match if the match date is within the week of the deadline, November 15th.
